Not to be confused with other Central Pains, such as spinothalamic dysesthetic burning, lancinating pain deserves an examination.
The British and French having the good sense to inquire about the electric shooting pains in CP also acquired naming rights.

I have had lancenating pains for 2 years since I aquired Cauda Equina Syndrome after a massive disc rupture at L4-L5. These pains always hit me in clusters. They will begin and zap me every 30-45 seconds for a few hours. Torture is a better word than pain. I was haveing twice as many attacks per month until I removed caffeine from my diet. I take Percocet when these attacks begin. It helps and will sometimes even abort an attack. I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if I can be of service.
