Elizabeth Mitchell, poet laureate of central pain.

One of these pains is not like the other

One of these pains is not like the other
Hotness coldness nerve injury
I tried to explain even to my mother
But lacking words, she does not believe

Which makes her part of the larger group
Who cannot define what is hell
They have a word for down not up
While my pain no one can tell

Part this, part that, it burns and will freeze you
The best will be only a guess
When always defining dysesthesia
In terms of something else
